Webinar: Managing Change & Grief With African American Families

Webinar invitation

You're invited to join us on February 16th, 2021 at 6:30 pm

In celebration of Black History Month, Evan W. Smith Funeral Services is hosting a free webinar to help our community better manage change and grief.

Historically, Black Americans have been less likely than other ethnic/racial populations to seek professional counseling services. Instead, many Blacks have opted to seek solace in more informal support resources such as family, friends, and community organizations. There are many reasons for these disparities in help-seeking, including lack of access, mistrust of mental health professionals, and stigma. As a result, one of the most commonly used coping strategies among Black Americans has been religion and spirituality.

Our team at Evan W. Smith Funeral Services is here to help you in your most challenging, emotional times of need. We also recognize that professional counseling can be an important addition. That is why we have invited Leslie Holley, MA, LCPC, NCC, and certified counselor with Healing Circle, to lead us in an online presentation focused on managing change and grief. — something we can all relate to, especially on the heals of 2020.
